Yesong Lee

Yesong Lee began learning to play the cello at the age of five. She studied at Yonsei University in Seoul with Prof. Young-Chang Cho, graduating as the top student of her year. She then continued her studies at the Musikhochschule Lübeck under Prof. Ulf Tischbirek, where she was awarded the “Ad Infinitum” scholarship and completed her Master’s degree with distinction. She is currently pursuing postgraduate Konzertexamen studies there.

She gained valuable artistic inspiration from masterclasses led by Gustav Rivinius, Maria Kliegel and Wen-Sinn Yang. Her playing is distinguished by its warm tone and compelling interpretations.

As a versatile soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician, she performs on numerous international stages. As a soloist, she has performed with, among others, the Philharmonisches Orchester der Hansestadt Lübeck, the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and the Yonsei Symphony Orchestra. She gained orchestral experience through orchestral academies with the Philharmonisches Orchester Lübeck and the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock.

She is currently a cellist with the Szczecin Philharmonic and a member of S.I.S.Q. (Szczecin International String Quartet).
